This Sun, Apr 4
This Sunday, we'll celebrate Easter. Rev. Polly will preach “A Different Sort of Pilgrimage” using John 20:1–18 as her text. We will celebrate communion, so bring your own bread and cup. Plus, we'll take a special offering for the UCC's One Great Hour of Sharing. Join us via Zoom a few minutes before 10 am Pacific.
Holy Week events
• Maundy Thursday: Apr 1, 7 pm
An ecumenical service with the same congregations as Ash Wednesday. The service will include communion and a hand-washing ritual, so you are encouraged to bring bread, cup, and hand-washing materials. Join via this special one-time link.
• Good Friday Taizé: Apr 2, 7:30 pm
CHC and Many Journeys host a Holy Week Taizé service of chant and contemplation. (This replaces our usual second-Friday Taizé.)
• Holy Saturday: Apr 3, 2 pm
Join Polly at church (in person!) to make a small flower cross for Easter. Please bring flowers.
Watch Jim Burklo's sermon
Last Sunday, we welcomed back Rev. Jim Burklo as our Palm Sunday guest preacher. Jim is the Senior Associate Dean of Religious and Spiritual Life at USC. He writes: “Roberta and I have two new family members on our land in Ojai, California: Sespe and Sisar, wild burros from the Arizona desert. As donkeys figure significantly in the biblical myth of Palm Sunday, I'm sharing something of what I've learned as I have tried to see the world through their eyes.” Watch now or see our worship slides.
