Dear Beloved Community,
This Sunday our very own John Latham will be reflecting on legacy. I know that for me, when I think of legacy I automatically think of people. The people around me, the people I’m yet to meet, the people I may never meet. I say this because I believe all people work towards creating a legacy, someway, somehow. Sometimes they don’t even know it.
The definition of ‘legacy’ to me exists in many ways. The Oxford Dictionary definition of legacy is “A situation that exists now because of events, actions, etc. that took place in the past”. As people, what we sometimes don’t realize is every moment creates a legacy, because every moment leads you to somewhere you weren’t before. Often, these moments can be elevated by working with people, joining minds, as they open doors to moments you may have never been able to experience alone.
In addition, I believe legacy is one of the most delicate, yet valuable, components in life. Legacy creates our world and shapes where we are to go next. Without legacy we would have no purpose, no backing, no sense of home, no sense of drive, no sense of honor. Looking forward I feel I will always look to follow the legacy of those who came before me, because without legacy we can’t move forward, we can’t make a name for ourselves or for those who came before us. Without legacy we can’t find out who we truly are, and quite frankly, that would suck.
I look forward to receiving more of an understanding from John, and I hope to see many of you this Sunday to provide the collective wisdom College Heights provides to one another
Peace and blessings!
-Jorge
